South Cooper Mountain Heights, a 269-unit apartment community located just outside of Portland, Oregon, sets the stage for other redevelopment in the area. With a strong emphasis on sustainability and green energy, the community offers connection to the outdoors and a nearby recreation area.
The exterior design draws from local residential vernacular and stresses clean, contemporary detailing. Though comprised of four independent buildings, the project is designed to create connection and community and includes pedestrian walkways and a large, two-story clubhouse designed to bring residents together.
The project has overcome a number of challenges, including various fire rating and protection requirements that needed to be approved for the clubhouse, given its location beneath residential units. It is currently on track for completion in May 2021, with framing for one of the buildings and the clubhouse nearly complete and the concrete for the detached parking structure being poured.
